Starosel is located only 20 km from the town of Hissar, in a picturesque mountain area.  The village became very popular in 2000, when the archaeologists discovered the greatest Thracian temple in Bulgaria (IV c. BC).

The most prominent monument in the city is Hissar Fortress with 4 gates, the main of which was the southern, called “The Camels”.
